Senior Lunches.
Monthly lunches for seniors at noon, in the Baptist Fellowship Hall, corner of Fourth and Bluff Streets. View the Calendar of Events for upcoming lunches. We serve tasty, healthy lunches, including salad, entree, and dessert. Cost is $7. Seniors who are not able to come out can arrange for lunch delivery by calling Public Health at 970-944-0321 or emailing Alena at ahaskell@centurytel.net. Walking Trails - Public walking trails have been built in several places in Lake City. The trail surface is a fine, compact gravel that is accessible by most wheelchairs. Pick up a trail map at the Public Health Office, 304 Third Street, across from the Armory. Note: trails are not maintained in the winter, but can be used with snowshoes or skis when there is snow on the ground. Pilates Physical Fitness Classes - Hinsdale County Public Health sponsors a weekly Pilates (pill-ah-tees) class at the Armory in the teen center. Volunteer Opportunities Lake City thrives because of its strong and active volunteer base. Lake City Public Library
The library offers an excellent selection of books, including current best-sellers, biographies, large print books, and audio books. They also have a DVD collection of a variety of movies and documentaries. Free internet access is available on the library's computers. If you have your own portable computer, a free wireless internet connection is available as well. Find out more about the library by calling Librarian Elaine Gray at 970-944-2615. Lake City Recreation Department The Town of Lake City's Recreation Department offers a variety of free or low-cost recreation and exercise programs throughout the year. Most of these programs are held in the Armory building, located at the corner of Third and Bluff Streets. Programs include Tai Chi, indoor walking, league or team sports, open basketball, and more. Also located in the Armory are a weight room and an aerobic workout room. The weight room has several weight machines and free-weights.
